Almost everybody in America has been impacted by television. But do you know the story of its invention, and the race to be the first man to transmit live images over the airwaves? In The Farnsworth Invention, that very battle takes center stage as Mormon inventor Philo Farnsworth goes head to head with Russian immigrant David Sarnoff, head of RCA, to become the father of the invention that changed the world.

Written by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, Sports Night, A Few Good Men), this challenging play uses smart dialogue, exciting conflict, and a healthy dose of comedy to tell the story of two men and their singular pursuit of bringing television to the masses. And it dares to examine the question of whether television should have had a greater purpose than selling umbrellas by speculating about rain.

A large cast (19!) will bring this story to life under the direction of Bryan Halperin (Once On This Island, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) in this show’s New Hampshire community theatre premier!

The Farnsworth Invention is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.
